As far as marketing AuraDev goes, this month was terrible. I had very little time to focus on AuraDev.com due to working on clients websites. This isn't a bad thing but it is the marketers trap... to spend all his time working on building a clients business, while neglecting his own.

Let's take a look at Google Analytics. You can see a huge spike towards the end of the month.

What I did was place a couple super vague employment posts on craigslist. I stumbled across this accidentally. I really was looking for a programmer or extra graphics guy to help me out with a project, but found out that you can drive a lot of non qualified traffic to your site thru posting job openings.

The only benifit this has is to get people to your site, which can temporarily bump your listing in Search Engine Result Pages.

I dont know if I would recommend doing this a lot, but it might be a good trick if you want to get 50-100 people to your site immediately. It's kind of unethical though, just to waste unemployed peoples time.

The results from my Adwords PPC campaign have been terrible, mostly because I'm super cheap sometimes and put in bids that are causing my ads to rank extremely low in the SERPs or not show up at all. This month I'll try to get AdWords working better.

I've been spending a lot of time working on TradeStocksAmerica.com. Go check it out and sign up for the free trial, its a really cool service. It's a stock market education and newsletter website, I bought a recommendation a few days ago and its up 3%. Not bad.

Sorry to have such a lame post. This month for myself I wil focus on creating more landing pages.

A landing page is a search engine optimized page that attempts to rank high for a specific keyword. So for examle if I wanted to get people searching for "Lake Oswego Web Design" I might make a page where that phrase is used often and the text is about how I do web design in Lake Oswego.

What I do is look thru Google Analytics in the Keywords section and see what searches people are already finding my website under, and then I make targeted landing pages to try to get more people in on that keyword.

The idea is that you start with keywords that are already working, because as you do your search engine optimization process, more and more keywords will bring you visitors. It is always easier to improve your search engine placement ranking for keywords that you are already listed on.

So for my SEO process what I do is look for the ones that either bring the most visitors or that I think are the highest value.

wysiwyg xhtml editor is not a high value keyword at all, but Lake Oswego Marketing Firms is.

Another thing you can do is run PPC on this list of terms.
